Ultimate Glacier Landscape

Glacier Lagoon day trip from Skaftafell Iceland

Glacier Grand Slam - Glacier Lagoon & Glacier Walking

Glacier Lagoon Boat Ride and Glacier Walking on Vatnajokull.
Trip difficulty ranges from 2-3 out of 5 possible.

On this tour you will have the best of both worlds, so to speak, as we take you both glacier walking and sailing on the amazing glacier lagoon. This tour is ideal for those who are already in the area or plan to visit Vatnajökull National Park using their own transport (if transport from Reykavik is needed see Vatnajokull Voyager). When driving towards the largest glacier in Europe, it is hard not to be tempted to walk on the large mass of ice that sits majestically in front of you and this is your opportunity! We will take you from Skaftafell Service Center in one of our glacier buses (hard to miss them when you are there :-) to one of the outlet glaciers where a short and easy walk to the glacier awaits. Once we arrive at the glacier tongue we will gear up on crampons and walk on the ice. With one of our expert guides leading the way we will make our way up the ice cap towards the  stunning ice fall while your guide explains all the interesting features of the glacier and its surroundings. Hear you will witness first hand how the glacier is slowly Glacier hiking should not be undertaken without the guidance of a professional glacier guide, with all necessary equipment. Our guides are all highly qualified professionals and we provide top of the line equipment to ensure your safety while on our tours.

After our glacier exploration we will continue on to the Fjallsárlón glacier lagoon. Here you will take an amazing 45 minute Zodiac boat ride, gliding among numerous large icebergs with Europe´s largest glacial mass serving as the backdrop as the Fjallsárlón guide explains the history and formation of the lagoon and take you back in time as they tell you the history of the people living in this area.
